Elena (Helen) Labruzzi

LABRUZZI, ELENA (HELEN) May 20, 1920 to January 6, 2012 Is in heaven with her devoted husband Larry, brothers, sister, and will be dearly missed by her loving family. She is survived by son David, daughter Loretta, five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Helen held nearly every position from treasurer to president in several local Portuguese and American Organizations and devoted 60 years to the Portuguese American Dancers of San Diego. Her entire life she dedicated a great deal of time to the community of Point Loma; truly a labor of love.

Helen Labruzzi was a pillar of the Portuguese Community in San Diego. Over the years, I enjoyed her stories of a community that is no more!
I used them in my writings, on all the three the books related to the Portuguese Community, that I collaborated in!
Strong willed yet very affectionate, one could always count on Hellen's help and support for any community oriented activity.
Helen was one of a kind and will always be remembered as being so!

Helen Labruzzi, being recognized at the "Night Of Recognition" for her contributions to the Portuguese Community by the then President of the Portuguese Historical Center, José M. L. Alves.
