Visit to San Diego of Consul General in San Francisco Nuno Vaultier Mathias

The new Consul General in San Francisco Nuno Vaultier Mathias, who arrived last Tuesday, June 5, visited the Portuguese Community in San Diego during a short trip to the area to open an exhibit at the San Diego Museum of Art in Balboa Park.
He was greeted at a luncheon at Miguel's Restaurant in Point Loma, by about thirty community members, representing various organizations and individuals who have been active in the community for many years.
The new consul, had an opportunity to address the gathering, offering his cooperation to solve community concerns and promising to return as often as financially possible to attend community functions.
Consul General Mathias previously served as an attache at the Portuguese Embassy in Washington D.C.. His wife and two children were born in the United States.
After our short conversion, it is obvious that Consul General Mathias, has great plans to modernize the consulate services to better serve the communities.
During the gathering the Consul General presented the community with a medal with on one side the face of the epic poet Camões and on the other side, a statement referencing the 2012 Dia de Portugal, de Camões e Comunidades Portuguesas - Day of Portugal, of Camões and of the Portuguese Communities.
We bid Consul General Nuno Vaultier Mathias a warm welcome, and hope that his future visits to San Diego are often and with of much success.
